08.12.2006 Attention! Summary Conference!
On Friday 8 December 2006, a summary conference on the second stage of the project “Building an educated society in Ukraine. Using information technologies in innovative ways in the professional improvement of teachers” will be held in Lviv.
The conference, “The question of information technologies in the system of secondary education in Ukraine,” is dedicated to the theme of using modern technologies in preparing teachers and teaching students of secondary schools. This is also the first time that the progressive program for teaching information technologies Тeach-it.net, which is new for Ukraine, will be presented to a wide circle of listeners.
The general problem, known both from Polish and also Ukrainian experience, lies in the fact that, in general, many schools are fairly well-equipped with computers. But specialists are lacking; teachers lack habits of using this technical support even at half of its potential capabilities. So the main task that stands before institutions for teacher training and secondary schools is to give teachers and students necessary qualifications that will empower their professional improvement and learning throughout their whole lives.
The conference is being jointly organized by the Ukrainian Catholic University and the KANA Catholic Youth Education Center (Gliwice, Poland). The Polish side comes to the given project as the co-author, intermediary, and successful executor on Polish territory of the European experience of the program Тeach-it.net.
