For participants and friends of the project!

Honored colleagues – educators and all those interested in information technologies in the process of instruction and self-education! We want to inform you about the successful completion of the second stage of introducing the Teach-IT.net method in Ukraine. At the same time, we want to thank all those who in one way or another have become involved in this matter – whether by direct participation in a work group, or participation in the summary conference, or by good advice or words, or simply those who did not stand in the way.

On our Internet page (www.ua.teach-it.net) in the News section it was possible for a number of months to observe the main events and achievements in the course of the project. We are glad we carried out all the tasks set before us and completed the reporting process for our donors and partners, and we understand that what has been accomplished will have little value without further movement ahead.

During the events conducted as part of the project, certain long-term goals and prospects which the executors of the project are aiming at were often emphasized. So today we feel obligated to confirm the continuation of activities in the indicated direction. The technical and administrative possibilities that have been created also will help in this endeavor – a computer classroom and the office for the project have been equipped, a dependable work team has been formed, a large group of people have been acquainted with the method, confirmation has been received about further support from leaders in education, as well as positive comments about the method from leading specialists in the field of improving the knowledge of teachers in modern technologies.

The task before us today is relatively easy. However, the future of the whole project will depend on the quality of the work done. According to the strategy of introducing Teach-IT.net in Ukraine, it is necessary to translate from the Polish language the instructional and methodological materials and to adapt them to the demands of Ukrainian educational legislation, Ukrainian conditions, the specifics of national education, and so on. The planned work foresees testing the Ukrainian version of the method before publishing it. Such an inspection will happen during pilot training sessions in various areas of Ukraine, and also during the information technologies summer school in 2007 and other activities. The consequences of these activities and the results and wishes of the participants will be taken into consideration in the final edition of the Ukrainian version of Teach-IT.net.

For now, the selection of translators to translate the Polish instructional textbooks with this method into the Ukrainian language has been announced. As a result of the competition, four translators will be chosen, taking into account the quality of translation and also speed and the conformity with certain standards of forming a prepared text. A necessary requirement is that the person must live in Lviv or the Lviv Region. We ask those interested to send an e-mail to severus1@yahoo.com or call 8 067 672 62 28; the deadline for applying is 27.02.2007.
