Interview with Natalia Morze

Doctor of pedagogical studies, Professor, Prorector of the Academy of Work and Social Relations, Scholarly director of an experiment with the Intel program and Microsoft in Ukraine

Regarding the project, what attracts me is the comprehensiveness and systematic character, inasmuch as it is developed as a complete methodological system.

- First of all, in this project concrete results are expected from the teacher. That is, the method is not only the repetition of knowledge (what is a computer, program support, and so on), but practical results. The project foresees inspection of the real knowledge of the teacher during the conduct of the lesson, not only his vision, but his practical ability to use IT in the teaching of future members of the information society.

- Second, what distinguishes this project from similar ones in Ukraine is its modular structure, which connects it to the requirements of the Bologna convention. The teacher can choose whatever course he likes, in accord with his interests, abilities, and skills.

- Third, what I really like is that all the methodological developments worked on by specialists in various areas are piloted and tested and can be used in the instructional process. This allows the achievement of the Standards of preparation of teachers in the field of information technologies developed by the Ministry of Education of Poland.

Unfortunately, right now Ukraine has no such standards, but they can become an external motivational requirement for the teacher, in order to improve his IT knowledge. For now this requirement remains essentially personal for each teacher. The comprehensiveness, systematic nature, and depth of the program allow the achievement of the real instructional goals of the educational process. I think it is worth attempting to use this (as a whole or by adapting separate parts) in Ukraine and to see how similar programs can influence the quality of instruction of our students.
